Devarshin & Dayashnee: The Wedding
Devarshin and Dayashnee’s wedding was a three-day affair that kicked off with a pre- wedding celebration, traditionally known as a Nelengu. Dayashnee’s was held at the DLI hall; while Devarshin’s was at Sharks Board.

Bright décor, live entertainment, loud music and dance were the order of the day; these events were nothing short of a party for both sides. The beautiful bride to be wore a cream and gold saree for the formalities and then changed into a light green glittery lengha afterwards. She performed an Indian dance with the Leona Dean dancers that evening and thereafter opened the dancefloor with her dad to Daddy’s Little Angel by Tony Carter
I still cry every time I hear this song! – Dayashnee

Devarshin, on the other hand, had a chilled setup with live music and an outdoor bar. He opened the dancefloor with his mom to Celine Dion’s Because You Loved Me.
Day two of the celebrations saw the traditional South Indian ceremony take place at the Manning Place Strinivasa Perumal Temple. They both loved the vibrancy, simplicity and richness of South Indian outfits.
We also chose a traditional ceremony in honour of our late grandparents whom we both hold very dear to our hearts. – Dayashnee

Devarshin and Dayashnee chose to go with contrasting outfits; she wore a red and gold South Indian saree while he opted for a navy-blue and gold Kurtha. She accessorised with a detailed neck piece, head piece and red, gold and blue bangles.
They had around 120 guests, most of whom were family and friends. Their wedding was graced with live, traditional music and the day ended with the customary and very emotional tradition of the groom’s family picking up the bride from her home. For this event, Dayashnee changed into a mustard and pink saree and Devarshin changed into a navy-blue suit.

The last day of the three- day celebration saw the happy couple host a fairytale reception at Hall of Stars in the Durban ICC. The setup was a romantic, modern and soft toned evening. The colour theme for their reception was blush, ivory and gold. Their evening was graced with Kiran on the sax and Mo Magic as the MC and attended by around 500 people.
Our opening dance was to Perfect by Ed Sheeran. Devarshin doesn’t like dancing but was so co-operative and enjoyed learning the dance so much that we still attend ballroom dancing classes.
The bride wore a lengha for the formalities and thereafter changed into a dress made by Katherine Montague. Their videographer, Elephants Belly, had prepared the most amazing video of the previous day’s ceremony to play back at the reception.

Every detail for our wedding and reception was attended to by Devarshin and I- from designing our monogram to picking out the guest favours and flowers. We incorporated all the elements we envisioned with our parent’s requests (mostly around the number of guests and the formalities) and we were able to pull off our incredible three-day celebration
